High school runner stops mid-race to save opponent

High school runner stops mid-race to save opponent

Seth Goldstein liked his chances of winning as he hit the halfway mark of his recent cross-country race. The 17-year-old senior from Cooper Yeshiva High in Memphis, Tenn. was somewhere in the middle of the
pack with plenty of race remaining when a runner ahead of him dropped to the ground. Had the boy merely tripped over his shoelaces, Goldstein may have taken it as a lucky break and continued past the runner from rival school in Germantown, Tenn. But his opponent needed help.

“His lips were turning blue and his eyes were rolled back in his head,” Goldstein told the Memphis Commercial Appeal. “I was terrified. But then I thought to myself, freaking out isn’t going to help any here.”

Goldstein is a lifeguard. He was the only runner to stop after his opponent had fallen, noting that it was “obvious” he needed help. When he realized the Germantown student had blood bubbling from his mouth, he yelled for a parent to call 911.
“He had bitten his tongue and was bleeding pretty bad,” Goldstein explained. “I feared he was going to choke on his blood. I rolled him on his side so he wouldn’t asphyxiate.”
At that point Jessica Chandler, the mother of another Germantown runner, ran over to help. She saw the victim’s body seizing and didn’t know what to do. Fortunately for everyone involved, Goldstein had the situation under control.
“Honestly, I was in shock,” Chandler said. “But this guy was taking complete control. He was like, ‘You — call 911. You — go get some ice.’ He turned him on his side. I thought he was a parent or an EMT.”
Goldstein then proceeded to tell everyone the seizing was normal and that he had seen it before. He was lying. He had never seen it, but it helped alleviate the stress of the situation. As it turned out, the fallen runner had suffered a seizure because of the heat and would later recover. Upon realizing the EMTs had arrived and could handle it from there, Goldstein asked if he could finish the race. It wasn’t until then that Chandler realized he was just another student runner.
“The EMTs looked at me kind of funny,” Goldstein said. “They’re like, ‘You’re racing? Well, sure, go ahead. I guess you can finish the race.’ Everyone was clapping for me, like I was the chunky kid who couldn’t finish. They were all cheering and saying, ‘You can do it!’ I’m thinking, ‘C’mon, man!’”
In an era where children at all levels of competition are encouraged to win at all costs and face unnecessary pressure from their parents, Goldstein showed us that selflessness does exist — even in competition. If it were completely extinct, a high school student may have lost his life.

September Natural soap: Madina Cucumber soap

Madina Cucumber soap:

It is one of the most relaxing, gentle exfoliating soaps that I've ever used in my life. With the ability of removing impurities from the skin literally while massaging it into your skin with it's rich, time- released lather leaving your skin silky soft and CLEAN without the need to moisturize afterwards.I kid you not!!

Madina's Natural Cucumber Soaps contain only pure cucumber essence blended with botanical properties that cleans your skin, while it helps restore and control essential moisture balance. Personally, living in the Caribbean with this
heat i'll recommend it any day!

I remember recommending this same soap, a while ago to one of my neighbor's at the time, who was suffering from acne. She was desperate for some natural healing and was willing to try anything. So, I took it upon myself to introduced her to the product, carefully explaining the active results that usually occurs while using the product.

The next time I paid a visit. On her update review during her progress, she was so extremely furious with me as she had Never in her life seen the acne, erupted so much from beneath the surface in her skin to imagine. As she claim down to hear my response. I've explained to her that is what it literally meant by gentle exfoliating while cleansing the area. She decided to continue. The next time I saw her, her acne was cleared up, she apologized and thanked me. It was such a wonderful feeling to give back in ways that will bless others from their troubles.

What I love most about Madina cucumber soap is that Do not use any animal fat base in their products. There is 100% vegetable base, which has a great reaction to most skin types.

Jill Scott: Covers October Essence Magazine!! 60 pound weight loss, Fabulous at 40 & more!!

Jill Scott shows off her natural hair in the October 2012 issue of Essence magazine and muses on turning 40, her various hairstyles, and why she ‘gets’ reality shows like Love & Hip-hop – her favorite.

On turning 40: “The light came on when I turned 40. I didn’t know that I couldn’t see, but now I can and I’ hoping that the light continues. Forty is f—ing fabulous. I feel like there is a certain level of authority that I have now that I didn’t have before. I like being this grown-up woman.”

On working on Lifetime’s Steele Magnolia remake: “I would have catered. That’s how much I wanted to work with this cast.”

On the anger displayed on reality shows: “I understand wanting to punch someone in the mouth and I’ve done it. [Years ago a man groped her at spring break and she responded with lip-splitting right hook]. I don’t know if he was drunk or high but he touched me and I let him have it. I do believe there are times when you need to take it to the streets. That said, if you’re not fighting for your life, your dignity or your honor, you might want to try to solve the problem gracefully or just walk away.”

On why she sometimes wears a hijab when she goes out: “I’m someone who needs desperately to be invisible sometimes.”

On rocking the short do’: “[My hair] is the simplest expression of myself. I look in the mirror and it’s like, Hey, there you go, what’s up, girl? For me hair is an accoutrement. Hair is jewelry. It’s an accessory. Tomorrow I may want a wig down to my butt and I’m gonna rock it, and the next day I may want a big Afro and I’m gonna rock that too.”

On her 60-pound weight loss: “Am I ready to be outside ain a bikini? Possibly never. But I am comfortable naked now an that’s a lot. I lost my grandmother a few years ago and shes normally where I would go for comfort. I’d go to her and she would make me something to eat, and we’d sit and talk and I’d be better. I just have to find healthier ways to appease myself.”

Finally, I am getting the chance to watch the full interview of Rihanna's interview with Oprah.

Rihanna's full interview with talk show queen Oprah Winfrey aired last night in the US and portrays the singer in a light never seen before.
The 'We Found Love' songstress invited Oprah to her native country of Barbados to film the candid chat for a new episode of Oprah's Next Chapter, during which she discussed her childhood, her incredible success and her relationship with abusive ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.
Chris brutally assaulted Rihanna in 2009 causing the end of their romance, but reports have mounted in recent weeks that they are reconciling. Rihanna says that is not the case and they are "very close friends."
"We built a trust again and that's it. We love each other and we probably always will," Rihanna said through tears.
"We've been working on our friendship again and now we're very close friends. And that's not anything we're going to try to change."
Chris has moved on with new girlfriend Karrueche Tran, and Rihanna says it's difficult to be around each other sometimes because she "still loves him."
"It's awkward because I still love him. My stomach drops and I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me. I have to maintain it and suppress it."
"When you don't understand those feelings you can make a lot of mistakes."
Wow! Sounds like a very honest interview... watch the full clip below...

Good morning guys!

I did not had the energy to get up, and jog this morning.. I feel like total crap. Sometimes, I don't have the energy to be a power house bouncing off the walls. I hurt, I cry, am not perfect and yes! I accept that fact and embrace my imperfections. I do have cravings and yes I indulgence in some very yummy naughty treats such as pastries and pies. lol That is my main addition.. just like how some people are addicted to alcohol, smoking, sex.. well mine is just pastries and pies and I enjoy them So What!! I am human and glad to be Me.

The below images are a few treats I like to indulgence in:

"bullar" in Swedish.. translate to "Swedish cinnamon buns", growing up in Sweden, my culture is circulated with the atmosphere of baking them around Christmas time. My mother and late sister would make them for us. It's a Swedish tradition to have them for the holidays as in Sweden, Christmas day is celebrated on the 24th December.

"Bular" Swedish cinnamon bun

Blueberry pie

Around the summer time in Sweden my mother used to send my later sister and I to the forest to pick fresh buckets of blueberries. Knowing, how good they tasted, I usually would return with the least berries in my bucket lol..

Blueberries freshly picked

Baked Blueberry pie

Apple pie

This was and will Always be the number 1# my mother used to make for us. It comes in all shapes and sizes! Dutch Apple pie.. No introduction needed! (:

Hey guys!

Today, is the first day in months that I've bought cream LOL.. sounds crazy right but yea, its true. Featuring the product below that I would usually use. Have been out of stock for quite some time. Introducing Palmer's Shea butter formula with vitamin E.

About Palmer's Shea Butter Formula
Shea Butter moisturizes and nourishes your skin naturally. It penetrates deep into the skin, improving elasticity and providing a long-lasting natural glow. Skin will look and feel satiny soft. Vitamin E, a natural anti-oxidant and skin protectant, provides additional moisturizing benefits. I deal for feet, elbows and knees.

Review: The product really works so well. I would also recommend this product to be used as a facial moisturizer. Try it, let me know how it works for you.

Today's tune in music

Jessie j- Stand up

JESSIE J LYRICS

"Stand Up"

If you surround yourself with negative people
You'll never feel settled in or become an equal, no
They'll suppress you of your spirit and rinse you dry of smiles
So reach deep and release your inner child, yeah, yeah

So stand up for the love, love, love
So stand up for the love, love, love
So stand up for the love, love, love
So stand up, stand up, for the love, love

'Cause you're as old as you feel you are
And if you don't reach for the moon you can't fall on the stars
So I live my life like every day is the last, last, last

'Cause you're as old as you feel you are
And if you don't reach for the moon you can't fall on the stars
So I live my life like every day is the last, last, last
So stand up

If you let a frown become your normality, yes
You don't set an example for the youth of our humanity
If you spend every day wishing for the next to come
Aged and lifeless is what, yes, you'll become, yeah, yeah

So stand up for the love, love, love
So stand up for the love, love, love
So stand up for the love, love, love
So stand up, stand up, for the love, love

'Cause you're as old as you feel you are
And if you don't reach for the moon you can't fall on the stars
So I live my life like every day is the last, last, last

'Cause you're as old as you feel you are

And if you don't reach for the moon you can't fall on the stars
So I live my life like every day is the last, last, last
(So stand up)
I live my life like every day is the last

So ignore the bad and the good will soon come
Don't think second best, be number one
Spread some love, don't give to receive
Strive to be happy and live to believe

So ignore the bad and the good will soon come
Don't think second best, be number one
Spread some love, don't give to receive
Strive to be happy and live to believe

So stand up for the love, love, love
So stand up, stand up for the love, love, love
So stand up for the love, love, love
So stand up, stand up, for the love, love

'Cause you're as old as you feel you are
And if you don't reach for the moon you can't fall on the stars
So I live my life like every day is the last, last, last

'Cause you're as old as you feel you are
And if you don't reach for the moon you can't fall on the stars
So I live my life like every day is the last, last, last

'Cause you're as old as you feel you are
And if you don't reach for the moon you can't fall on the stars
So I live my life like every day is the last, last, last

So stand up for the l-l-love, yeah
So stand up for the l-l-love, yeah
So stand up
