Benefits of Dry brushing- More than a beauty secret! Learn how it helped me get rid of my black stretch marks & cellulite :)

Dry Skin Brushing for Whole Body Health

Dry skin brushing may be the single most important therapy you add to your detox program. Your skin is your largest elimination organ. It releases a pound of waste each day and will be the first organ to show symptoms of imbalance or toxicity.
The skin is often called the 3rd kidney because it eliminates a quarter of the toxins from the body (the lungs are the 2nd kidney). If your skin cannot efficiently release toxins, you may experience rashes, acne, hives, itchiness, body odor, or even eczema and psoriasis. Dead skin cells, excreted wastes and external pollution (including dirt and skin care products) can build up and clog your pores. Clogged pores inhibit your skin from effectively releasing toxins.

If toxins are unable to escape through the skin they will either be stored in fat cells, contributing to cellulite and other fatty deposits, or they will be re- circulated back into the blood stream, overworking the kidneys, liver and other detox organs. Thus a seemingly simple and easy therapy like dry brushing can have a huge overall impact on you whole health.

Benefits of Dry Skin Brushing – More than a Beauty Treatment!

Everyone knows that exfoliating the skin is great for creating radiant and vibrant looking skin. But did you know it's also an essential tool for good circulation, strengthening the immune system, stimulating the nervous system, toning the muscles and improving digestion? Here is a list of the many inspiring benefits of dry skin brushing:

  • Stimulates blood and lymph flow. The lymphatic system is an important part of your cleansing and immune system. White blood cells called lymphocytes carry nutrients to cells and remove waste. The lymph flows outside of the circulatory system to bathe, cleanse and restore all of our cells, but it must be returned to the blood vessels to dump its waste. It does this through tiny lymph vessels with one-way valves to the heart. If we don’t move the lymph quickly enough we end up with swollen tissues, particularly in the ankles. Exercise, massage and skin brushing help to speed the process and clear the lymphatic system.
  • Removes dead skin cells. Dry skin is a sign of detoxification. It is important to remove the dead cells to keep from clogging the system. This will also improve skin texture and renew the skin cells.
  • Stimulates the hormone and oil glands. With daily brushing and bathing, the skin can produce the oil needed to stay healthy.Sweating is an important part of detoxification but when your system is clogged, you may experience foul body odor and extra work is put onto the bladder, kidneys and liver. With regular exercise and cleansing the skin, you will notice that your sweat no longer smells. However, with increased detoxing on your whole body cleanse, you may find it gets worse before it gets better.
  • Reduces cellulite. I (Cindy) had no idea that skin brushing would lessen cellulite until I started to see it in myself! It requires daily brushing for several months to start to see results. When you massage and stimulate the skin it begins to break up the toxic deposits of stored fatty tissues that pucker the overlying skin into cellulite. Connective tissue massage and releasing stored emotions are also good treatments for cellulite.
  • Strengthens the immune system. Dry skin brushing can reduce the length of infections and illness by moving the toxins more quickly through the system and stimulating the lymph to move waste matter out.
  • Stimulates the nervous system, tones the muscles, tightens the skin. By stimulating nerve endings in the skin, this technique will rejuvenate your nerves and activate individual muscle fibers, resulting in toner muscles. The increased blood flow to skin, and removing of dead cells, stimulates the creation of new skin cells which tightens and regenerates overall skin health.
  • Nurtures your body. Maybe one of the most important benefits of this practice is purely the pleasure of nurturing your body. Learning to love your body is essential for weight loss and the healing of any bodily “dis-ease.” Spend this time, 5-15 minutes per day, giving your body the attention it craves and deserves. It works hard to support you. Giving it superior support will reward you many times over.

Selecting a Dry Skin Brush

Choose a dry skin brush that has natural fiber bristles and a long handle for reaching all of your back. Some have a removable handle and strap for using the brush without the handle. The bristles may feel too firm at first, but your skin will acclimate to this over time. If you have very sensitive skin, you may want to start with a softer brush or use a dry towel in the beginning.
It's a lovely cellulite reducing brush that has soft pegs to help break up the cellulite.

How to Use Your Dry Skin Brush

  1. Brush your dry body before you shower or bathe, preferably in the morning.
  2. Start at your feet and always brush toward your heart. Use brisk circular motions or long, even strokes.
  3. Brush all the way up your legs, then over your abdomen, buttocks, and back. If you have cellulite on your hips and thighs, concentrate their a little longer. For complete dissolving of cellulite, brush for 10 minutes daily for several months.
  4. Brush lightly on sensitive areas like breasts and more firmly on areas like soles of the feet.
  5. When you reach your arms, begin at your fingers and brush up your arms, toward your heart. Brush your shoulders and chest down, always toward your heart.
  6. Avoid brushing anywhere the skin is broken or where you have a rash, infection, cut or wound.
  7. Finish by taking a shower and if you choose, use cold/hot therapy to further stimulate the lymphatic system and improve circulation.
  8. Dry off vigorously and massage pure plant oils into your skin such as almond, sesame, avocado, coconut, olive or cacoa butter.

The Hot Towel Alternative

A hot towel scrub is an easy and absolutely free way to support your detox plan and experience similar benefits to dry skin brushing. All you need is a sink, hot water and a wash cloth. Daily hot towel scrubbing helps to open your pores, promote circulation and release stored toxins. This simple technique also encourages fat, mucous, cellulite and toxins to discharge through your skin rather than accumulating around deeper vital organs.
Wipe your skin first with a dry towel to remove dead cells, then use the hot wet towel to stimulate and rejuvenate your skin and organs. Scrubbing your underarms and groin will especially activate your lymphatic system.

Kick start your morning with the Good Habit of drinking water the first thing on mornings :)

Good Morning Beautiful World,

Kick start your morning with the Good Habit of drinking water the first thing on mornings :)

Benefits of drinking water:

-Transports nutrients and oxygen into cells

- Moisturizes the air in lungs

- Helps with metabolism

- Protects our vital organs

- Helps our organs to absorb nutrients better

- Regulates body temperature

- Detoxifies the organs

- Protects and moisturizes our joints

Muscle consists of 75% water

Brain consists of 90% of water

Bone consists of 22% of water

Blood consists of 83% water

Every cell in your body needs water from head to toe. That is why it

is so important to drink enough fluid. For, example, brain consists of

90% of water, if you do not supply enough water to your body, your

brain cannot function well, and you will get headache or migraine.

Hence, next time, if you feel fatigue and headache, it may be a sign

of dehydration.

***Cornrows!!!*** Yess!! Get the Love experience!

Hey Pudding Lovers!

Last week I decided to do something with my hair, I was so annoyed at my hair always being in the way and well I wanted a quick fix, something that does cause me to do it everyday, what better way to do than.. **Cornrows** Yep! You heard me cornrows, so I made my appointment and got it done only using **Natz Flaxseed Hair pudding**!

Take a Look!

This is the right side of my hairstyle, its a low "one" or as Caribbean people call it a "pineapple". It's where plait would meet together :)

This is the left side of the cornrows, it comes around like a lovely curve, I love simple designs.. that are pleasing and not busy to the eye.
This is a better shot to show you guys how it would meet on a side lower than the usual "one" or "pineapple" plaits. It is so neatly done! I love it.
Here I am again, showing off  the top of the right side design :) and a cute bun!

I am so in love with cornrows, you don't have to do anything to do them. Just tie your head down at night with a scarf or bonnet to main low frizz! Thanks to my talented hair stylist Rhea Greaves.

The path to 'Greatness'

Hey beautiful world,

I am just so over joyed these days, I limit myself from worrying about the things, that I can't change and accept the things that I have no control over. Today, I will be fasting yet again to gain mental discipline and focus to my journey to 'Greatness'. Now, I know it isn't easy for the beginning for many others, however if you know you want to become great, then be prepared to do something you've never done before.

October's Fitspirations of the day! 77 year old Bodybuilder Jim Morris

October's inspiration of the day!

Black Male Vegan: 77-Year-Old Bodybuilder Jim Morris Proves Vegans Can Be Muscular & Healthy

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN VEGETARIAN? AND WHAT INSPIRED YOUR JOURNEY?

My first awareness of vegetarianism was 1969. Having won all of the contests on the east coast I moved from New York City to Los Angeles in July of that year and started training for the national contests under the coaching of three time Mr. Universe Bill Pearl at Bill Pearls gym in Pasadena. I had met Bill in New York at an exhibition he gave at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and was very impressed by him and his demeanor. Bill was a lacto – ovo vegetarian.
In 1972 at the age of 42 Bill began training for the Mr. Universe. Having followed the bodybuilding obsession with animal protein for my entire career I was amazed at Bill’s strength and gain in muscle. He won the Mr. Universe, for the fourth time.
Still afraid to mess with a winning formula (I had won Mr. Los Angeles in 1969, Mr. California in 1970, Mr. USA in 1972) I continued to eat meat until after the Mr. America in 1973, which I won. Between 1974 and 1985 I gradually eliminated all animal products except fish and cheese. Between 1985 and 1999 I weaned myself from both.
HAS VEGETARIAN ENHANCED YOUR HEALTH? WHY OR WHY NOT?
Prior to becoming vegan I suffered digestive problems all my life, mainly constipation. I started taking anti inflammatory medication in 1966 for my joints. At one point I was getting cortisone injections directly into both elbows every week. The arthritis kept me awake at night.

I would get 2-3 colds yearly and allergy attacks as often. Since becoming vegan all my health problems have completely disappeared.
Most miraculously, after wearing eyeglasses for 35 years my sight improved to where I only wear them on rare occasion for extremely small print. I no longer take any medication. I do take a weekly injection of Testosterone and vit B-12. My yearly checkups are perfect.
IN RETROSPECT, HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT MEAT? OR DO YOU HAVE ANY THOUGHTS ON AMERICA’S MEAT INDUSTRY?
I believe every creature is born with the inalienable right of freedom. Freedom to live in its natural environment, with its own kind, making its own decisions.
I believe the law should prohibit the enslavement of all non human species for any purpose whatever.

WAS THERE A COMMUNITY OF BLACK MEN THAT HELPED YOU ALONG YOUR MEATLESS JOURNEY? AND IF NOT, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO CHANGE THIS FOR OTHERS?

I have not had the good fortune to experience the example or mentoring of black vegetarians or vegans, male or female … Although Bill Pearl is a full blooded Native American.
This is why I am so glad to have the opportunity to appear in your publication.

Thanks for reading guys!

-N.Roachford
